BHAG’s and a Hollywood Christmas

Hey, I know it has been a while since I have had a Shoreline Insider Post. But ever since I took that time off in November, I have been having to play catch-up. First off let’s catch up on what happened at the last Leadership Pipeline:

  • Connection Award - Given to the volunteer/leader who mirrors Shoreline’s Core Values: It went to Paul Sherwood who has been running camera during the services and has been a huge hand in set up and break down. He won a $50 gift card for a local restaurant.
  • Last month, I told you about personnel changes; well Darlene who has taken on the pre-school has implemented and exciting new curriculum for the pre-school and the Shorebreak kids. It is called Kidmo and we really believe it will help take our church to the next level.
    • Because of some family issues, Hunter has taken some time off of leading worship. Matt Menedez, Esther Yost and Brian Buonissississsisssi will continue to lead worship on a regular basis.
  • BHAG’s - I went away for a while in November to pray and seek God for 2008. I felt impressed that we were to go long in 2008. We were to go big. We have been growing steady; kind of like the little short passes and runs up the middle that gain 6 or 7 yards a play. I felt impressed though that there were going to be some long bombs and some wild times in 2008. In Jim Collins book Good to Great, he talks about BHAG’s (big harry audacious goals). So, I came up with mine for 2008.
    • Duplicating the services on DVD and having them available immediately after the services.
    • some kind of media presence in this area, whether TV or radio.
    • A Thursday night service in a local bar. 2 reasons for this;
      1. to have service for those people who are not able attend a Sunday morning service during the tourist season because of their jobs, like lifeguards and charter fishermen.
      2. to go to where the people are. Who is better at reaching unchurched people? The church or a bar. the bar by far. So why not go where they are?
    • Lastly, by the fall, I would like to see us have a location in FWB, prefrably with our own building and offices. This would be along with our Destin location. This is by far our biggest BHAG and will require total faith in God.
  • Hollywood Christmas - Don’t forget this Sunday are our Christmas services. They will be fun and inspiring. Plus, we have some prizes we will be giving away. We have a lot of people going to be out of town. If you are not going to be out of town, we can really use help during the services, mainly ushering, greeting and tear down. If you can helpĀ  more than you normally do or someone in your family doesn’t serve, we could really use their help… so make them help out on Sunday. We will also be giving out our invite cards for our series in Jan. called Boundaries. Boundaries are the unseen structures that support healthy, productive lives. This series will show you how to strengthen them and hold them in place every day.

Merry Christmas and we will see you on Sunday unless you are out of town. If you are, we will see you when you get back.

Until then, don’t hate me because I am beautiful.

Eric
