#8 Rushing the Field
We are nearing the end of our series, Season Tickets, which tells what the assimilation process is for Shoreline. But of course, you being a leader, know what that process is: Sunday Morning Worship Experience, Life Groups and Volunteering. This weekend is the final message and it encourages people to move from the stands and onto the field to get into the game. We have taken some advice from some people and gotten a little more strategic in our volunteer process. We will be asking people to serve a semester which ends at the end of January. Understanding that if you are reading this, you probably lead in some capacity at Shoreline. So, let me tell you how it is going to work.
- This Sunday, in every worship guide will be a ticket. We are going to ask those that are not yet serving to fill out the ticket with their name, phone #, and e-mail address and turn that ticket into a table in the lobby.
- When they turn in the ticket, they will receive (1) a Shoreline T-shirt (don’t worry, we are giving left over t-shirts to our current volunteers) and (2) a brochure that lists out every volunteer position in the church on 6 different strategic teams.
- Those teams and their leaders are :
- Hospitality – Lauren Veal
- Support Ministry – Shannon Cherry
- Children’s Ministry – Sandi Metcalf
- Service production -Pastor Sam Blowes
- Music Ministry – Hunter Dawson
- Office Support – Esther Yost
- These brochure will have all of these teams listed with specific jobs.
- People turning in tickets will be told to go home, look at the list and make their top 3 picks and that they will be getting a call this week.
- We have a calling team set up that will make the calls this week and help people narrow their picks down to one spot.
- The volunteers will then be scheduled to train on September 30. All of their info will be put together and forwarded to the leaders of the different teams.
- Those leaders should then follow up on these volunteers on the week of the 30th.
- Then, be ready to train on the 30th.
We are very excited because we are getting more strategic on our service commitments as well as making the steps as easy as possible for our potential volunteers.
If you have any questions, please ask, in case I missed something.
And remember, servant hood is the pinnacle of maturity in God’s kingdom.
